
Bees Open Final Home Stand With Win over Beloit

Burlington, IA (Aug 21, 2008) - The Burlington Bees have tied a season-high by winning their seventh game in a row. Thursday night at Community Field, the Bees used two Clint Robinson homeruns in a 6-2 win over Beloit.
The Bees scored their first run of the ballgame in the bottom of the second inning. With one out, Robinson hit a solo homerun to give the Bees a 1-0 lead. Beloit answered by scoring one run in the top of the third to tie the game. In the bottom of the third inning with no one on and two outs, David Lough hit his 15th homerun of the season and the Bees led 2-1. Beloit once again tied it by scoring one run in the top of the fourth inning.
The Bees took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth inning by scoring three runs. With one out, Jason Taylor walked. Robinson then came to the plate and hit his second homerun of the day and his 16th of the year and the Bees led by two. Nick Francis then doubled and moved to third on a Jamar Walton single. With two outs, Juan Rivera singled to score Francis and the Bees led 5-2.
The Bees finished out their scoring in the fifth inning. Lough led the inning off by being hit by a pitch and then moved to second on a wild pitch. After two outs were recorded, Taylor doubled to score Lough and the Bees led 6-2.
Alex Caldera got the start for the Bees. In five innings, he allowed two runs, one of which was earned, on seven hits with six strikeouts and no walks. He picked up the win to move to 11-6 on the season. Joe Augustine, who was activated off the disabled list right before the game, pitched two scoreless innings. Both Paul Raglione and Tony Bradley pitched one scoreless inning.
The Bees were outhit by Beloit 10-9. Robinson led the way for the Bees going 3-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. For Robinson, it was his third multiple homerun game of the season and second in the last week. Francis was the only other Bee with multiple hits as he went 2-4. The combination of Robinson and Francis combined for more than half of the Bees' hits.
The Bees continue the series with Beloit Friday night at Community Field. Matt Mitchell is the scheduled starter for the Bees. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00.
