LYNCHBURG, VA - Clevelan Santeliz started strong and Matt Zaleski was impressive in finishing as the Winston-Salem Warthogs cruised past Lynchburg 6-1 on Friday night at Calvin Falwell Field. The two hurlers combined to limit the Hillcats to a one run on four hits in leading the Warthogs to their fifth win in the past six games.

Santeliz (1-2) was effectively wild in limiting Lynchburg to one hit in five shutout innings. He walked five and struck out five in working his longest outing of the season. Zaleski went the final four frames and allowed three hits to collect his second save of the season. The Hillcats avoided the shutout when Kris Watts smacked an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

C.J. Retherford broke the scoreless tie when he led off the fifth inning with a solo home run of Brian Holliday. Winston-Salem added to their lead in the sixth inning when Paulo Orlando singled, stole second base and moved to third on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, Brandon Allen walked and stole second to put runners on second and third with two outs. John Shelby III followed with a two-run single to give the Warthogs a 3-0 lead.

Winston-Salem greeted newly inserted reliever Blair Johnson with three runs in the seventh inning. C.J. Lang and Adam Ricks tallied RBI doubles and Salvador Sanchez added a run-scoring single to extend the Warthogs advantage to 6-0.

Holliday (1-8) last 5 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on three hits to suffer the loss for the Hillcats.

These two clubs will conclude this three-game series on Saturday night with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. Winston-Salem will hand the ball to RHP Anthony Carter (1-2, 6.75), while Lynchburg is expected to send RHP Jared Hughes (2-7, 4.28) to the mound.
