Rush Donovan Morgan Named AFL Rookie of the Month

June 25, 2008 - Chicago Rush wide receiver Donovan Morgan has been named the Arena Football League's Rookie of the Month, the AFL announced today.
Morgan (6-2, 195, Louisiana-Lafayette), who was named to the league's All-Rookie team yesterday, led all rookies in receptions (32), receiving yards (353), touchdowns (8) and scoring (48) over the course of three games during the month of June. His best performance came in Week 16 when he recorded 12 receptions for 127 yards and scored four touchdowns (three receiving and one rushing) in Chicago's 50-47 loss at Georgia.
Morgan was Chicago's leading receiver this season and is one of the leading candidates for the league's Rookie of the Year award. For the year, he led all rookies in receptions (113) and receiving yards (1,300), while finishing second among rookies with 24 touchdowns.
After clinching the top seed in the American Conference playoffs with a 75-63 win Sunday over Dallas, the Central Division champion Rush (11-5) will enjoy a bye this week. The team will return to action next week when it hosts an AFL Divisional Round playoff game at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 6.
