The RedHawks have knocked 48 base hits in 156 at bats against Nashville, 20 of which have gone for extra bases. Nelson Cruz's home run last night, however, was the RedHawks long ball hit off Sounds pitching this year. Oklahoma has also walked 22 times over those five games, representing eight and a half percent of their total walks this season.
MENDOZA ACTIVATED AND OPTIONED: Texas activated starting pitcher Luis Mendoza off the 15-day disabled list Monday and immediately optioned him to Oklahoma. Mendoza has been with the RedHawks since Memorial Day on a rehab assignment while recovering from right shoulder inflammtion. BOTTS BIDS FAIRWELL:
Jason Botts was transferred to the Class-A Spokance roster yesterday afternoon. Botts was designated for assignment by Texas on April, outrighted to the RedHawks on May 7, and played in 18 games for Oklahoma, batting .242 with four home runs and 11 runs batted in.
NASHVILLE AT A GLANCE:
Vinny Rotino has the longest active hitting streak in the PCL, extended to 18 games with a third inning single... Former RedHawk Laynce Nix had his road hitting streak snapped at 11 games with an 0-2 performance last night, but did walk twice to extend his road-on base streak to 13 games... The Sounds are hitting .245 at the Brick this season, 48 points lower than their overall batting average on the road this season. The staff ERA is also higher at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark compared to other road venues at 6.27 to 5.29 elsewhere.
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION:
Texas had the day off and open a three-game series in Kansas City tonight... Frisco slipped past Midland 2-1... Bakersfield got blanked by San Jose 3-0... Clinton fell 4-3 to Kane County.
DOT-DOT-DOT:
The RedHawks went 3-8 with runners in scoring position last night. The three hits match what Oklahoma did during the entire series in New Orleans (3-31 for an .096 average)... Ryan Roberts is riding an eight-game on-base streak, while Nelson Cruz has reached base in 12 straight... Eric Hurley has not been added to the Rangers active roster yet, but he scheduled to make his Major League debut Thursday at Kansas City. Corresponding roster moves will need to be made.
