Morales Named Angels Minor League Player of the Month

SALT LAKE CITY (June 10, 2008) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim annouced today that infielder Kendry Morales has been named Angels Minor League Player of the Month for May and right-handed pitcher Kevin Jepsen has been named Angels Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May.

Morales, 24, hit .352 with six doubles, six home runs and 17 RBI in 21 games for Salt Lake in May. Placed on the disabled list on June 8 with a right oblique strain, Morales has appeared in 45 games for the Bees in 2008, hitting .324 with 10 doubles, eight home runs and 37 RBI. He has also appeared in one game for the Angels this season. Originally signed by the Angels in 2004, the Cuban native hit .294 with four home runs and 15 RBI in 43 games for the Angels in 2007.

Jepsen, 23, recorded a 1-1 record and a 0.63 ERA with seven saves in 12 games for double-A Arkansas in May. Recalled to triple-A Salt Lake earlier today, Jepsen has appeared in 25 games for the Travelers this season, owning a 2-1 record with a 1.42 ERA and 11 saves. The Anaheim, Calif. native was originally selected by the Angels in the second round of the 2002 draft.
