SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that Club Deportivo Guadalajara will play Atlante FC in a SuperLiga match on Saturday, July 19 at 7 p.m. PT at Buck Shaw Stadium.

The inaugural SuperLiga tournament was played in 2007 with eight teams, four from Major League Soccer and four from the Mexican First Division. Last season's final at The Home Depot Center saw CF Pachuca defeat the Los Angeles Galaxy on penalty kicks.

CD Guadalajara, widely known as Chivas, and Atlante have been placed in Group A of SuperLiga along with reigning MLS Cup Champion Houston Dynamo and Supporters Shield Winner D.C. United. Western Conference regular season champion Chivas USA and MLS Cup Finalist New England Revolution join two-time Mexican champion Santos Laguna and the defending SuperLiga Champion Pachuca CF in Group B.

SuperLiga will kick off its second season on Saturday July 12, when D.C. United meets Chivas Guadalajara at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. The Dynamo will meet Atlante that same night at Robertson Stadium in Houston. The SuperLiga final is scheduled for Aug. 5.

The team also participated in the 2008 Copa Libertadores, finishing the tournament with a 3-3-0 record and nine points to finish third in its group.

In the inaugural SuperLiga in 2007, they finished 1-1-1 with a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy on July 28 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. They were eliminated following a 1-0 loss to Pachuca 1-0 on Aug. 1, 2007 at Commerce City, Colo.

Atlante finished fourth in Group 2 in the Mexican First Division with a 3-6-8 record in the Torneo Clausura in 2008. Atlante captured the 2007 Torneo Apertura Championship, the club's third league title.
