FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution announced today that midfielder Sainey Nyassi has been elevated from the team's developmental roster to its 18-man senior roster.

In his first full season with the Revolution, Nyassi has started on the right side of midfield in five of New England's seven games, missing the other two because of injury. He became the youngest player in Revolution history to start a season-opener (19 years, one month, 28 days) when he was in the starting lineup against Houston on March 29, and he scored a spectacular goal late in the match, earning Sierra Mist Goal of the Week honors for Week 1. Nyassi also scored the game-winning goal at Kansas City on April 9, and he currently leads New England with two goals.

"We're pleased to be able to add Sainey to our senior roster and we're excited about his future with the club," Director of Soccer Michael Burns said.

Nyassi, 19, was signed by the Revolution as a youth international on Aug. 31, 2007, after he helped lead Gambia's Under-20 Team to the knockout rounds of the 2007 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. He has earned 15 caps for Gambia's U20 team, scoring one goal.

The Revolution (3-3-1, 10 pts.) returns to action on Sunday, May 11, when the team visits Chivas USA at 3 p.m. ET at The Home Depot Center. The game will be televised regionally on TV38 and nationally in Spanish on Telefutura, while radio listeners can catch the action on the WEEI Radio Network.
