Toronto FC Adds To Coaching Staff

Toronto FC has announced the addition of Chris Cummins to the coaching staff. Cummins has been named 1ST assistant coach to John Carver and in addition to his duties with the first team he will also oversee the Reserve team with newly signed Nick Dasovic serving as his assistant. Per team and league regulations no details were announced.

Cummins joins Toronto from English League One side Luton Town where he worked with TFC head coach John Carver.

"I am very pleased to welcome Chris on board," said Carver. "Obviously I've worked with him before so I know how he operates. We brought him in and saw how he worked out with the lads and he gets along real well which is important. Chris has worked a lot with the young players, and he'll do the same here while still helping me out with the first team."

Cummins began his professional coaching career in 1996 with Watford Football Club as the youth development coordinator and was later promoted to Watford's assistant academy manager in 1998. He held that position for a number of seasons before working his way up to the assistant academy manager of the youth team. After two seasons at that post he became director of youth - youth and reserve team coach.

Cummins first official match as Carver's first assistant will be May 17 when Toronto hosts Columbus in the second of three matches to determine the winner of the Trillium Cup. The third match will also be held at Toronto's BMO Field on Sept. 13. Toronto fell to Columbus 2-0 in the Trillium Cup opener - a game that witnessed 2500+ Toronto FC supporters make the trip to Crew Stadium for the club's season opener.

Please note that Toronto FC has made a change to the kickoff time for its May 17 home game against the Columbus Crew. Kickoff for that match will now be 4:00 p.m. ET. The original kickoff time was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Gates will now open at 3:00 p.m. and the match will continue to be aired live on CBC.
