Snappers Take Series' Third Game; Roster move

The Great Lakes Loons dropped the final game of a three-game series to the Beloit Snappers Saturday night by a score of 8-2 on Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Dow Diamond.

Beloit took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third, an inning highlighted by a two-run home run by Chris Parmalee. The Loons pulled to within one run with a two-run homer by Andrew Lambo in the bottom of the frame, but would never pull closer.

Joe Becker paced the Loons with two hits. Ben Revere, on his 20th birthday, led the Beloit charge with three hits and an RBI. Parmalee drove home three of the Snappers' eight runs. Joe Benson added two RBIs for Beloit.

Bryan Morris (0-3) recorded the loss, surrendering five runs (all earned). Jon Dutton hurled three scoreless innings of relief. Miguel Sanfler allowed the Snappers' final three runs in the ninth inning.

The Loons wore pink jerseys in the game, which were auctioned off during the game the main concourse. Preston Mattingly's jersey sold for $700. Andrew Lambo's jersey was the second-highest fund raiser, going for $480. All profits from the Pink Jersey off the Back Auction benefit MidMichigan Medical Center, Midland's Center for Women's Health.

Sunday the Loons begin a three-game series against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Game time is 3:05pm. The game will be preceded by a Youth Baseball Clinic and followed by Kids Run the Bases, both presented by Farm Bureau Insurance. The game will be carried in Mid-Michigan on the flagship home for Great Lakes Loons baseball, ESPN 100.9-FM, and worldwide at Loons.com. Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring items for the Bay Area Women's Shelter in the Two Men and a Truck Movers for Moms program. The shelter is seeking new socks and underwear, personal care items, non-perishable food items and cleaning supplies.
