Washington Mystics News Release

Washington, D.C. -Washington Mystics and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) have agreed to a sponsorship partnership, Mystics Chief Operating Officer, Greg Bibb, announced today

In support of the Community 3's program, CareFirst will donate $100.00 for every three pointer made by the Washington Mystics during the 2008 season. Last season, the Mystics made 163 three pointers which means as much as $20,000 could be raised for charity this year. Money raised this year will benefit the non-profit organization, Girls, Inc., a youth organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold.

Gregory A. Devou, CareFirst Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, explained the health care not-for-profit's interest in joining the Mystics to help Girls, Inc., by saying, "CareFirst believes strongly in supporting community programs that make a real difference in people's lives, and our partnership with the hometown Mystics is ideal. Teaching and mentoring young women to become role models in their own right is a great investment."

In addition to supporting the Community 3's program, CareFirst will sponsor 3 clinics to be held at the Verizon Center in August during the 2008 season for children in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome CareFirst BlueCross Blueshield to our family of corporate partners," Bibb stated. "CareFirst's participation with the Mystics and the community programs within the partnership exemplifies their commitment to the greater Washington, DC community, and in particular, to the region's youth. The Mystics are excited to join CareFirst in raising money for Girls, Inc. and to provide memorable experiences for area youth through our basketball clinic program."

In its 71st year of service, CareFirst, an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, is a not-for-profit health care company which, through its affiliates and subsidiaries, offers a comprehensive portfolio of health insurance products and administrative services to more than 3.2 million individuals and groups in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia

The Washington Mystics will tip off the 2008 season on Saturday, May 17th, on the road against the Indiana Fever. Washington will host the club's home opener on Sunday, May 25th against the four-time WNBA Champion Houston Comets at 4:00 p.m. Season tickets for the 2008 season are currently on sale and can be purchased by calling the Mystics Sales Office at 1-877-DC-HOOP1 or by visiting the Mystics web site at www.washingtonmystics.com.
