Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, the regular season points-champions of the American Hockey League, announced today that defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk has been signed to an Amateur Tryout Agreement after concluding his junior season with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Halifax Mooseheads. With the move, Providence now has 28 players on its roster, including 16 forwards, nine defensemen and three goaltenders.

Bodnarchuk, 19, concluded his junior campaign last Thursday as Halifax was swept by the Gatineau Olympiques in four games in the QMJHL Semi-Finals. After registering 43 points, including 33 assists, over 65 regular season games, the defenseman added another nine helpers in 14 postseason contests.

A native of Drumheller, Alberta, Bodnarchuk set personal-highs with 16 goals, 41 assists and 57 points for Halifax in 2006-07. He then signed an ATO with Providence on May 7, 2007, appearing in one postseason game for the P-Bruins, his first and only professional contest.

Bodnarchuk, drafted by the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins 128th overall in the fifth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, potted 123 points (32g, 91a) in 196 games over three years with the Mooseheads, along with 321 penalty minutes. The blue-liner signed an entry-level contract with Boston on February 19.
