Salem, VA (April 30, 2008) - The Salem Avalanche, Advanced Class-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, are gearing up for a four-day visit from Roush Fenway Racing's No. 6 car at the ballpark this week.
David Ragan's AAA-sponsored Ford Fusion will be on the main concourse of Lewis-Gale Medical Center Field from Thursday, May 1, through Sunday, May 4. The showcar's appearance is presented by Kroger. All fans entering the gates will have the opportunity to view the showcar, and, weather-conditions permitting, will get to hear the roar of the Ford Racing powerplant.
"This is a great opportunity for racing fans to get a close-up look at the car of one of NASCAR's rising stars," said John Katz, Avalanche VP / General Manager. "After a fourth-place finish at Talladega on Sunday, David Ragan is a name that's well-known throughout both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series."
Ragan's ride will also be on display at the Kroger location at 72 Kingston Drive in Daleville, VA on Saturday, May 17, from 11:00AM - 5:00PM.
All Avalanche fans attending games this coming weekend, along with all guests visiting the Kingston Drive Kroger during show hours on May 17, will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win a spot as a Roush Fenway Racing "Honorary Crew Chief" at the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte on May 25, 2008. Additionally, the Grand Prize winner will receive a Skybox at the ballpark for the game immediately following the prize drawing on the 17th of May. No purchase is necessary, and entrants need not be present to win.
