Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees for the third game of a four-game series at PNC Field (7:00 p.m.). The series is even up at one game apiece following the Yanks' 6-5 victory last night. Buffalo collected a 4-2 win in the series opener on Tuesday night. The Bisons are now 2-3 on a seven-game roadtrip that started with a three-game series in Pawtucket. On the mound tonight is RHP Matt Ginter. The veteran is looking to bounce back from a pair of losses on the team's last homestand. The Yankees will counter with RHP Dan Giese.
HAVE YOU HERR'D: Two more hits for Aaron Herr last night. The Bisons infielder has hit in 10 of his last 11 games with a .381 (16-42) batting average. Herr collected his team-leading second triple of the year last night and now has six extra-base hits in his last seven games (2 2B, 3B, 3HR). Herr also has 15RBI on the season, tied for the fourth most in the International League.
AIR JORDAN: Infielder Jordan Brown saw hit five-game hit streak come to an end last night, but he remains the Bisons top hitter. Brown leads the Bisons with 24 hits, 9 doubles and a .304 batting average. His nine doubles leads the entire International League while his 24 hits rank as the fourth most. Brown's team-high 14 runs scored are tied for fourth most in the IL.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS: Outfielder Jason Cooper continues to climb up the Bisons Modern Era record charts. Cooper is now 5th with 323 games played, passing long-time player now manager Torey Lovullo. His double last night was his sixth of the season and 68th of his five-year Bisons' career. That's the fourth highest total in the Modern Era. Cooper also ranks fifth with 187 Bisons RBI and tied for 10th with 41 homeruns with the club.
EXTRA, EXTRA: The Bisons have been an extra-base hit machine of late. The team has recorded five extra-base hits in each of the first two games of this series. Brad Snyder and Aaron Herr have been at the forefront of the attack as both sluggers homered on Tuesday night and collected triples last night. In the two games, Buffalo has six doubles, two triples and two homeruns.
ROSTER MOVE: The Cleveland Indians have sent Sean Smith to the Colorado Rockies as the player to be named later in the Jamie Carroll trade (December 8, 2007). Smith was 0-1 with a 4.00ERA in four starts with the Bisons this year.
