Game Keys: Mike Nickeas drove home a pair of runs and Jose Diaz pitched a gem as the New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the Omaha Royals 6-2 on Monday night. Diaz pitched seven innings, allowed two runs on two hits. The 28 year old right hander pitched his third quality start in four games. He did not allow a hit until the fourth inning and made just one mistake allowing a two run home run to Chris Lubanski in the fifth inning. The Zephyrs pounded out eight hits led by outfielder Victor Mendez's three hits. The Z's also drew seven walks in the game. Omaha starter Mike Maroth lasted two innings and suffered the loss. Former Z Brandon Duckworth pitched three innings for the Royals. The Zephyrs scored a pair of runs in the second, a pair in the fourth and two additional runs in the 8th inning. The Z's lead the series two games to one.

Game Notes: The winning team in the series in Omaha has scored six runs in each of the first three games of the set.... The Z's hitters entered Monday's game with the second fewest walks as a team, the team drew seven in the game..... The Z's did not make an error on Monday, stopping a streak of four consecutive games .... Argenis Reyes returned to the line up after missing three games with a sore left ankle. Reyes was ejected in the sixth inning following a called third strike. The win is the Zephyrs first of the season on a Monday, improving to 1-2.

Coming Up: Zephyrs RH Brian Stokes (2-1,1.50) will pitch against Omaha Royals Kyle Davies (1-1, 1.38) at 11:05 AM today in the final game of the four game series at Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium. Radio: AM 690 WIST.
