Iowa Cubs News Release

The Cubs dropped their third game in a row Monday night as the Oklahoma RedHawks defeated Iowa 6-1.

Nelson Cruz homered twice, scoring four of the team's six runs. Oklahoma starter Sidney Ponson threw seven shutout innings, allowing only four hits to pick up his first win of the season.

Oklahoma took advantage of a season-high four Iowa errors.

Iowa's Andres Torres extended his hit streak to eight games, with a single in the eighth inning. The Cubs' lone run was thanks to a balk by RedHawks reliever Kea Kometani.

Torres, along with designated hitter Corey Coles, combined for three of Iowa's five hits in the game.

Despite allowing just one unearned run, Iowa starter Randy Keisler took the loss for the Cubs throwing five innings and striking out three.

The Cubs and RedHawks meet tomorrow at 12:05 for the series finale.
