READING, PA- The Reading Phillies took advantage of 10 walks issued by Curve pitching en route to a 7-3 win Sunday afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game weekend series at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading.

Curve starter Kyle Bloom walked four batters as part of a 42-pitch first inning, Corey Hamman, who took the loss for Altoona, issued two free passes and Ronald Belisario was charged with four walks in his two innings of relief.

Altoona's offense got off to a good start against Reading starter Carlos Carrasco, the Philadelphia Phillies' top-rated pitching prospect. James Boone and Jason Delaney each hit solo home runs in the first two innings as the Curve built an early 2-1 lead. Boone's home run led off the top of the first, while Delaney opened the second frame his second home run of the series. Delaney finished the game 3-for-3, plus a walk and reached base safely in 11 of his 13 plate appearances in the three-game series.

Carrasco, however, settled in and exited the game after six innings, allowing two runs on five hits. The right-hander struck out seven in his first outing against the Curve since tossing a rain-shortened, six-inning no-hitter last August 21 at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Reading tied the game against Bloom in the bottom of the third on a Juan Tejeda RBI double and then took the lead for good in the fourth against Hamman on Lou Marson's run-producing double. Bloom, who was making the start on just three days rest was charged with two runs in three innings. Hamman (0-2) allowed two runs and three hits over three innings to drop his second decision of the season.

The Curve drew to within one run in the seventh inning on an Anthony Webster RBI ground out, which scored Melvin Dorta, but the R-Phils put the game away with a three-run bottom of the eighth against Belisario.

Altoona (3-7) dropped the final two games of the set after winning Friday's series opener, 8-4. The Curve have now lost each of their first three series to open the season. Reading improved to 6-4 with the win.

The Curve will continue their six-game road trip with a three-game series at Trenton, starting Monday evening. Josh Hill (0-1, 5.40) will start for Altoona against Thunder right-hander George Kontos (0-1, 5.40) in Monday's 7:05 p.m. series opener. Radio airtime on the Curve Radio Network will be 6:50 p.m.
