Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria scored three times in the first period and never looked back en route to a 6-1 win over the IceHogs in Rockford on Wednesday night.

Chris Porter got the ball rolling for Peoria in a three-goal first period, starting at 7:35 when he punched home a goalmouth pass from Jean-Guy Trudel to make it 1-0.

Just 58 seconds after Petri Kontiola extended a point-scoring streak to eight games with a power play marker, Ryan Reaves' wrist shot made it through traffic and beat Crawford blocker side and put the Rivermen ahead to stay.

Mike Glumac's goal with just 53 seconds remaining capped the scoring in the frame and went for his 20th of the season as the Rivermen can now count six 20-goal scorers on the roster.

The barrage continued in the second as Nicholas Drazenovic started the play that led to his 14th goal of the year with a hit that wiped out an IceHog forward, forcing a turnover to Glumac at the Peoria blue line. Glumac then carried the puck down ice before feeding a streaking Drazenovic at 14:38 for the goal and a 4-1 Peoria edge.

Charles Linglet then tapped home the carom off Stephen Wood's shot that beat Crawford through the legs but caromed off the post and to the side of the net. Martin Kariya also drew an assist on the goal at 19:28 to put the Rivermen up by four at the break.

Linglet netted his second of the night to finalize the scoring at 11:04 from Trudel and Kariya.

Hannu Toivonen played well in net for the Rivermen, stopping 30-of-31 shots to pick up the win.

The Rivermen are back in action on Friday night when they host the San Antonio Rampage at 7 pm. Don't miss the post-game concert event with Swtichfoot and Athlete! Tickets are on sale now through the Peoria Civic Center Box Office, all TicketMaster locations, on line at www.TicketMaster.com, or charge by phone at (309) 676-8700.
