SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Third baseman Neil Walker went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer as Indianapolis rolled to its fifth straight road win -- a 7-3 decision over Syracuse -- Wednesday night at Alliance Bank Stadium.

The Indians improve to 5-2 on the season, while the Chiefs fall to 2-5.

Walker, who is ranked by Baseball America as the Pirates No. 2 prospect, gave the Tribe much-needed insurance with his first blast of the season in the eighth. He plated 1B Craig Wilson, who went 1-for-5 in his first action with the Indians since signing a Minor League contract with Pittsburgh on April 8.

Walker, CF Andrew McCutchen (1-for-4, 1 R, 2 RBI), 2B Luis Ordaz (1-for-3, 1 RBI) and SS Josh Wilson (1-for-3, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI) all knocked in runs for Indianapolis. Every Indians starter reached base and the Tribe pounded out a season-high 12 hits.

Indians RHP Jason Davis (5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 SO) earned his first win of the season, while LHP Sean Burnett (3.0 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 SO) collected the first save of his nine-year professional career.

Chiefs RHP Josh Banks (6.0 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO) was tagged with the loss in his first decision of 2008.

Syracuse plated single runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings. 2B Joe Inglett led the Chiefs by going 2-for-5 with an RBI single, while C Robinzon Diaz, who scored on a double by 3B Sergio Santos in the second, drove in LF Adam Lind with a double of his own in the sixth.

The two teams conclude their four-game series on Thursday at 2 p.m. RHP Ty Taubenheim is scheduled to start for Indianapolis, while RHP Kane Davis is expected to get the nod for Syracuse.

The contest will be carried by WXLW-950 AM and www.IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley. The pre-game show begins at 1:40 p.m.

Opening Night at Victory Field is Friday, April 11, when the Indians entertain Norfolk at 7:15 p.m. If the game starts with a temperature of below 60 degrees, everyone in attendance will receive a FREE ticket to another home game in April.
