Richmond, VA - The Richmond Braves beat the Buffalo Bisons 9-6 Wednesday at The Diamond. The Braves cracked 14 hits and batted around in an inning for the first time this season to win for the second straight night.
The Bisons took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Jordan Brown. Richmond responded by sending nine men up in the home half, scoring four times. Brandon Jones and Scott Spiezio knocked in runs with singles and Clint Sammons produced two runs with a double. The Bisons battled back with two runs in the third and one in the fourth to tie the game. Jason Tyner chased a run home with a ground out and Andy Gonzalez added an RBI double in the third. Aaron Herr scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. The Braves moved back in front in the fifth. J.C. Holt had an RBI single and a run scored on a double play to give Richmond a 6-4 lead. Ryan Mulhern singled a run home in the Bisons seventh but Joe Borchard answered with a home run in the bottom half. The Bisons again closed to within one in the eighth on an RBI single by Josh Barfield that trimmed Richmond's lead to 7-6. The Braves pulled away in the home half on a two run single by Brent Lillibridge.
Jonathon Rouwenhorst picked up the win. Vladimir Nunez notched a save. Aaron Laffey took the loss. Borchard had three of the R-Braves 14 hits. Five Bisons enjoyed two-hit games.
The Braves close the homestand Thursday vs. the Bisons at 1 PM at The Diamond. Jorge Campillo will pitch for the Braves against Sean Smith.
