
Carolina Returns Conboy And Hamilton To Albany

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that defenseman Tim Conboy and right wing Jeff Hamilton have been returned on loan by the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League after clearing NHL waivers at noon.
Conboy, 26, was called up to Carolina twice this year, with his second stint lasting from February 14th until the end of the NHL's regular season. The Farmington, Minnesota native made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes on January 12th against the Colorado Avalanche and recorded his first career NHL point with an assist and his first NHL fighting major. Conboy finished the season with Carolina, where he tallied five assists, 60 penalty minutes and a +1 rating in 19 games played. On March 27th Conboy was named as Albany's winner of the 2007-08 American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions and community work in the Albany area; we was also one of 29 finalists for the AHL's 2007-08 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award. Conboy returns to Albany where he still leads the River Rats in penalty minutes (189) and has three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in 49 AHL games this season.
Hamilton, 30, returns to Albany for the second time this season, after initially being reassigned to the River Rats in late February. The Englewood, Ohio native was recalled to Carolina on March 17th and finished the NHL's regular season with the Hurricanes. He played in 58 games for the 'Canes in 2007-08 and ranked 11th on the team in points (24) and tied for 11th in goals (9). Hamilton has scored 71 points (29 goals, 42 assists) in 142 NHL regular-season games with the New York Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks and Carolina. In nine games for the River Rats this season, Hamilton has nine points (3 goals, 6 assists), six penalty minutes and a +3 rating.
Both players were reassigned to Albany immediately after they both cleared NHL exit waivers at noon on Wednesday. Conboy is expected to join the team for Wednesday night's game against the Norfolk Admirals, while Hamilton should return to Albany's lineup on Friday night against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
The River Rats are at home on Wednesday, April 9th for at 7:00 pm face off against the Norfolk Admirals at the Times Union Center. Friday, April 11th Albany will host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in their regular season home finale at 7:00 pm.
