Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba -- The Brandon Wheat Kings are pleased to announce that over $700 was raised in this year's Remington's Seafood and Steakhouse "Saves for Kids" Campaign.
During the 2007-2008 Western Hockey League regular season, netminders Joe Caligiuri and Andrew Hayes combined to make 770 saves at Westman Communications Group Place and for every stop made by the Brandon goaltending tandem, Remington's Seafood and Steakhouse donated $1 to the Brandon Sun Fund for Kids.
The Sun Fund for Kids is a partnership between the Brandon Sun and Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba and has been in operation since the mid 1980's. It was established to raise funds to send disadvantaged children to camp. Funds are raised from the Westman area and children and families from westman can apply for assistance.
An 18-year old veteran from Winnipeg, Caligiuri, who finished fifth in the WHL this year with 30 victories, made 552 saves on home ice this season while Hayes, a 17-year old rookie from Sherwood Park, Alberta had 218 stops.
In addition to the donation, Remington's purchased a pair of 2007-08 Season Tickets for the Sun Fund for Kids this past year.
"Good Friends and Great Food" always await you at Remington's Seafood and Steakhouse.
In on ice news, the Wheat Kings returned home Sunday following the first two games of their WHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series with the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Brandon lost back to back one-goal games and will be hoping to extend its home ice winning streak Tuesday night in game three of the best of seven opening round playoff series.
Game time for games three and four on Tuesday and Wednesday is 7 p.m. and as of Sunday, there were lots of tickets remaining for both games at the Keystone Centre box office. Fans can also order by phone at 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca
