ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter tonight's action with a 2-0-0 record (0-0-0 at home, 2-0-0 on the road, 0-0 in overtime) after the first two games of the EASTERN CONFERENCE QUARTER FINAL presented by KAL-TIRE and MEYERS NORRIS PENNY, against the MEDICINE HAT TIGERS...If necessary, Game Five will be in MEDICINE HAT on Friday, March 28 at 7:30 pm.
SPECIALTY TEAMS: KOOTENAY is third in the WHL in overall power play (37.5%) and are tied for tenth in the League in overall penalty killing (71.4%).
PLAYOFF EXPERIENCE: The ICE have a career playoff record of 64-43 (35-18 at home, 29-25 on the road, 17-7 in overtime)...KOOTENAY has 326 games of playoff experience which is eighth most of the teams who qualified for the post season...PAUL KURCEBA (35), BEN MAXWELL (32), STEVE DASILVA (31), and CHAD GREENAN (31) lead the ICE in games played in the playoffs...MICHAEL STICKLAND scored his first WHL playoff goal on March 21.
IMPORT AUTO GROUP, ASHLEY FURNITURE HOMESTORE, AND PELLITER CONSTRUCTION PLAYOFF TOWELS: On March 25th at Game Three of the EASTERN CONFERENCE QUARTER FINAL the first 3,000 fans attending the game will receive a playoff towel...The towels are courtesy of IMPORT AUTO GROUP, ASHLEY FURNITURE HOMESTORE, and PELLITER CONSTRUCTION...The ICE encourage all fans to wear white to the games and bring their towels to all playoff contests.
CONCORD PACIFIC HOCKEY CARDS: On March 26th the first 3,000 fans attending Game Four will receive 2007 -2008 KOOTENAY ICE HOCKEY CARDS courtesy of CONCORD PACIFIC...After March 26th the cards will be available at the KOOTENAY ICE Office for $5.00.
DID YOU KNOW: The ICE were 4-2-0-0 against the TIGERS in the regular season...STEVE DASILVA (4-6-10), DUSTIN SYLVESTER (2-6-8), and ARNAUD JACQUEMET (3-3-6) led KOOTENAY in scoring while BRENNAN BOSCH (3-4-7), DAINE TODD (4-2-6), and TYLER ENNIS (3-3-6) led MEDICINE HAT...STEVE DASILVA finished the regular season fifth in overall points (40-50-90)...ANDREW BAILEY is second in franchise history for consecutive regular season games played at 215 (ADAM TAYLOR - 289)...DASILVA (19) is second and BAILEY (16) is tied for fourth in franchise history with game winning goals (NIGEL DAWES - 29, ZDENEK BLATNEY - 18, DALE MAHOVSKY - 16)...JOHN NEGRIN finished the regular season tied first in the WHL in short handed assists with four...ARNAUD JACQUEMET led KOOTENAY in plus / minus this season with 13...DASILVA has been named to the EASTERN CONFERENCE FIRST ALL STAR TEAM for the second season in a row.
TRANSCATION: Forward JOE ANTILLA has been sent home for the remainder of the season for conduct detrimental to the team.
ONE YEAR AGO: After game two of the 2006-2007 quarter final action the ICE were 1-1 against the CALGARY HITMEN and after game three were 1-2.
