Omaha Lancers News Release
Two players returning from injuries sparked the Lancer offense in a 3-1 victory over the Green Bay Gamblers at the Resch Center in Green Bay on Friday, March 21st.
Joe Diamond opened the scoring for the Lancers with his 12th goal of the year, assisted by Matt Thurber and Will O'Neill to tie the game at 1-1. The goal at 8:31 of the first period was Diamond's first red-lighter since going down with a broken hand.
Matt White then provided the game-winning heroics with his fifth goal of the season, which came on the power play at 12:46 of the second session. White scored his first goal since a spleen injury sidelined him about two months ago. Ben Arnt and Patrick Wiercioch assisted on White's second power play tally of the season and his first game-winning goal.
Drew Conboy added an unassisted empty-net goal at 18:38 of the third period to complete the scoring and finish off a 3-1 Lancer victory.
Omaha scored once on the power play in six chances, while Green Bay failed to score in four opportunities.
Between the pipes, goaltender Drew Palmisano won his league-leading 29th decision of the season (29-7-3) with a 23-save performance. Neil Conway took the loss for Green Bay with a two-goal, 29-save effort.
With the victory, the Lancers dropped the number of points needed to clinch the Anderson Cup regular season title down to eight.
The same two teams meet again Saturday night, March 22nd at the Resch Center, beginning at 7:05 PM. Broadcast coverage on News Talk 1420, KOTK starts with Bob Bakken at 6:45 PM.
