Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Brandon, Manitoba -- The Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that tickets for their first two Western Hockey League playoff home games go on sale Thursday morning at the Keystone Centre box office.

Western Manitoba hockey fans can also order them by calling 726-3555 or by going online at ticketmaster.ca

Winners of five straight home games, including Wednesday's 4-3 victory over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders before a "sold out" crowd at Westman Place, the Wheat Kings will close out their 2007-08 regular season schedule this weekend against the first place Regina pats, who clinched the Eastern Division pennant last night with a 5-4 victory in Moose Jaw.

At 41-24-3-2, the Wheat Kings are currently tied with Swift Current for second place in the WHL's Eastern Division and sixth in the Conference. Moose Jaw meanwhile is one point back entering a home and home series this weekend against the Broncos.

With two games remaining, Brandon is four points behind Lethbridge in the Conference with the Hurricanes owning the tiebreaker against the Wheat Kings, having won three of 5 games during the season series between the two clubs.

What that means is this - the Wheat Kings will open up the playoffs on Eastern Weekend on the road, with games three and four to be played at Westman Place the following week, dates of which will be confirmed on Monday, March 17th.

For more information on playoff tickets - individual or group - feel free to contact the Wheat Kings at 726-3535.

Back to last night's game, Andrew Clark scored twice including the game winner early in the third period. Matt Lowry and captain Daryl Boyle also scored for the Wheat Kings, who went 3-8 with the man advantage. Wednesday's game featured the 2nd Annual Nestle Purina Pucks 'n Pets Tennis Ball Toss, in support of the Brandon Humane Society. One lucky fan - Mike Love of Brandon - took home the grand prize of a 2008-09 Season Ticket and pet food for a year compliments of Nestle Purina.
