Boucher Heads To San Jose

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced today that Philadelphia Phantoms goaltender Brian Boucher has signed an NHL contract with the San Jose Sharks. In turn, the Flyers have re-assigned goaltender Martin Houle to the Phantoms from Wheeling of the ECHL.

Boucher, 31, was in his second career stint with the Phantoms after signing an American Hockey League contract on July 23, 2007. The veteran netminder appeared in 42 games this season for the Phantoms, recording a 23-16-1 record with a 2.47 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. He posted four shutouts on the season and combined with Scott Munroe in a fifth.

Boucher previously played with the Phantoms from 1997 to 1999. He leaves Philadelphia in third place on the Phantoms all-time list in games played (113), shutouts (6), and wins (59).

Houle has appeared in 26 games for Wheeling this season, posting a record of 5-13-3 with a 3.73 goals-against average and a .889 save percentage. In 77 total games with the Phantoms over the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons, he posted a record of 30-25-3 with a 2.90 goals-against average.

The Phantoms host the Binghamton Senators on Friday, February 29 at the Wachovia Spectrum. The first 5,000 fans through the doors receive a Bobby Clarke figurine courtesy of Toyota.
