Edmonton Elks News Release

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos today acquired import defensive tackle Robert Brown and import defensive back Reggie Durden from Montreal in exchange for non-import defensive back Davis Sanchez.

Sanchez appeared in 12 games during an injury plagued 2005 season with the Esks, recording 28 tackles, two sacks, one interception and two knockdowns. He did not dress for the post season or the 2005 Grey Cup. Sanchez signed with Edmonton as a free agent in March 2005.

The trade marks a return to the Eskimos for Robert Brown (B: 05/12/74) who spent four seasons with the Green and Gold (1998 - 2001). Brown, who makes his off-season home in Edmonton, is entering his 9th CFL season. In 2005, Brown registered 7 tackles, two sacks and one knockdown in 15 regular season games. In 2002, Brown was named a CFL East Division All-Star and CFLPA All-Star. Brown was named the Esks top rookie in 1998.

A veteran of five CFL seasons, all with Montreal, Reggie Durden (B: 12/11/76) is coming off an excellent 2005 campaign with 54 defensive tackles and two interceptions. The product of Florida State recorded eight tackles and one interception (57 yards) in the post-season and four tackles in the 2005 Grey Cup.

Eskimo Head Coach Danny Maciocia says " Reggie Durden is extremely versatile and one of the CFL's top cover-men, and Robert Brown is a dominant inside force who can beat you with speed or power".
