
RiverKings sign Hyman

SOUTHAVEN --- The Memphis RiverKings of the Central Hockey League announced today that they have signed defenseman Dion Hyman. The team acquired Hyman's rights from the Corpus Christi Rayz in the trade on Monday that also included defenseman Chad McIver for defenseman Tim Laurila and future considerations from Memphis. Hyman will make his RiverKings debut tonight when the team hosts Oklahoma City at 7:05. McIver played his first game in a RiverKings jersey on Tuesday.
Hyman played his first three seasons with the Laredo Bucks before being traded to the Fort Worth Brahmas this past September. He played in nine games with Fort Worth and had five assists and 55 penalty minutes for the Brahmas before being traded to Corpus Christi in early December. He played one game with the Rayz before being placed on team suspension. In the interim, he signed and played one game with the Laval Chiefs of the LNAH in Canada prior to the trade that brought him to the RiverKings.
The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native scored the historic game winning goal for Laredo in game seven of the 2004 President's Cup Finals versus Bossier-Shreveport. He is also second on the Bucks' all-time PIM list with 485. He was called up and played in seven games for the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL last season.
Upcoming promotions: Saturday night, 1/14 is "Mascot Mania." The first 1,000 fans 12 and under will get a Sheldon and RiverThing mascot jersey courtesy of First Tennessee.
