Daniels Earns OHL West Division Academic Player of the Month Award

Saginaw Spirit goalie Ryan Daniels is the OHL West Division academic player of the month for the month of November. Daniels is a 17 year old, second year player who attends Nouvel Catholic Central High School as a Senior.

On the ice, Daniels is 11-3 with a 3.43 goals against average and a .906 save percentage in 14 games. He was the Spirit's third round pick, 48th overall in the 2004 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

The Ontario Hockey League today announced the OHL Academic Players of the Month for November

West Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for November in the West Division is goaltender Ryan Daniels of the Saginaw Spirit. The 17-year-old from Pickering, Ontario is a senior student at Nouvel Catholic Central High School in Saginaw, Michigan.

Midwest Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for November in the Midwest Division is Harry Young of the Guelph Storm. Young, 16, native of Windsor, Ontario, is a Grade 11 student at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School in Guelph, Ontario.

Central Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for November in the Central Division is Stephane Chabot of the Brampton Battalion. The 17-year-old from Rockland, Ontario is in Grade 12 at Turner Fenton Secondary School in Brampton.

East Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for November in the East Division is Blake Pronk of the Kingston Frontenacs. The 19-year-old from London, Ontario is in his second year of studies at Queen's University in Kingston.

Each month, the OHL recognizes a player from each Division who is striving to reach his full potential in his educational program while playing in the Ontario Hockey League.

More than 97% of the players currently playing in the Ontario Hockey League are attending high school or post-secondary institutions. More than 400 OHL graduates are currently attending Canadian universities and colleges on scholarships from their OHL teams.
