
Otters overpower Generals

Chris Greene scored two goals and an assist and Mike Blunden registered a hat trick as the Erie Otters topped the Oshawa Generals 7-3 in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,958 at the Tullio Arena.
Derrick Bagshaw and Nick Palmieri netted the other Otters goals while Sean O'Connor collected three assists. Bret Nasby and Andrew Hotham registered two assists each as the Otters won for the third straight time to improve to 13-13-3-1.
Brett MacLean paced the Generals with a goal and two assists. John Tavares and Cal Clutterbuck netted the other Oshawa (6-22-2) goals.
The Otters led 1-0 after one and 2-1 heading into the third. Erie moved ahead 4-1 with two goals in the opening three minutes of the final period only to see the Generals answer back with two quick goals midway through the frame to close back to within one. Erie answered with three goals in 3:21 to win going away.
The Otters out shot the Generals 32-23 in the game as Josh Disher posted the win. The three stars of the game were all from the Otters. Greene was the first, Blunden the second and O'Connor the third.
The Otters complete the weekend tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon when they travel to Mississauga to face the IceDogs in a 2 p.m. game at the Hershey Centre. The game can be heard in its entirety on SportsRadio 1300 The FAN immediately following Pittsburgh Steelers Football.
The next Otters home games takes place Friday (December 16th) when the Toronto St. Michael's Majors visit for a 7:30 p.m. start. Saturday (December 17th) it's the Otters and the Windsor Spitfires at 7:30 p.m. at the Tullio Arena. Tickets for both games are available at all Erie-area TicketMaster locations as well as the Civic Center Box Office.
