Modesto beats Visalia in regular season final, 11-4

VISALIA -- Joe Gaetti had four hits, including his 20th and 21st home runs of the season, and six RBI s as the Modesto Nuts beat the Visalia Oaks in the regular season final 11-4. Larry Robles pitched seven innings for the win and Tomas Santiago pitched shutout ball over the final two frames to finish the game. Christian Colonel and Eric Dean each had three hits as Modesto pounded out 19 hits against three Visalia pitchers. Brett Wayne retired all three batters he faced in the ninth inning for Visalia.

South Atlantic League MVP Matt Miller, called up from Ashville to help Modesto in the playoffs, had a pair of hits and an RBI in his Modesto debut playing in left field. Catcher Neil Wilson, also summoned from Ashville, also had two hits, including an RBI triple in his first at bat.

Shortstop Troy Tulowitzkit, who came of the disabled list to play for the first time in a month on Saturday, did not play in the game. Ian Stewart was away from the team on family business and will return for the playoff game on Wednesday.

Modesto will host the first game of the Northern Division playoff series against the Stockton Ports on Wednesday night. Mark Kaiser goes the mound for Modesto against Stockton¡¦s Brad Knox. Game time at John Thurman Field is 7:05 p.m.

Game #2 and #3 (if necessary) will be played at Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton on Thursday and Friday. The winner of this series will play the San Jose Giants, winner of the First Half Championship. Games #1 and #2 will be hosted by San Jose at Municipal Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.
