10,000 CFL Fans Follow 2005 CFL Canadian Draft on CFL.ca

Toronto, Ontario – The Canadian Football League announced today that more than 10,000 fans from across the country logged onto CFL.ca for today’s 2005 CFL Canadian Draft, recording more than 30,000 page views in less than four hours. Of the total site viewers who watched the live draft, 86% were based in Canada, 10.7% came from the US and the remaining number representing additional countries around the world. Ontario led all markets at 36.7%, with 18.1% of the fans logging on from Alberta, and 14.1% and 13.8% coming from Saskatchewan and Montreal respectively.

The Calgary Stampeders led off the 2005 CFL Canadian Draft with its first overall selection of defensive lineman Miguel Robede of the 2004 Vanier Cup Champion Laval Rouge et Or. The University of Laval Rouge et Or led the way with five draft picks, all in the first and second rounds (Miguel Robede, Matthieu Proulx, Philippe Audet, Philippe Gauthier, Pierre Tremblay).

Of the 53 draft picks, 33 came from the CIS, 18 attended NCAA schools and two entered the draft from the NAIA. Of the 2005 CFL Evaluation Camp attendees, 26-of-40 were selected in the draft with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall picks having participated in the camp in mid-March.
