
Chivas USA acquires VÃctor Arbeláez

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, March 24, 2005) - Chivas USA announced today the acquisition of defender-midfielder VÃctor Arbeláez by way of a trade with the San Jose Earthquakes, who in exchange receive Chivas USA's fourth pick in the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft.
Born August 7, 1982, in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 5'11", 170-pound Arbeláez can play as a defender or as a midfielder. He was acquired by San Jose in the third round of the 2005 MLS SuperDraft.
Arbeláez started all 18 games of UNLV's regular season in 2004, after starting all season long in 2003 (four goals and four assists) and 2002 (two goals). In 2001, Arbeláez played his freshman year at the University of San Francisco.
