Halifax Mooseheads News Release

Halifax Mooseheads' General Manager Marcel Patenaude announced today the restructuring of the Mooseheads' scouting department.

Sylvain Brunelle, Scouting Coordinator, Quebec, has been appointed Director of Scouting. Brunelle, from St-Eustache, QC, will oversee the operation of the Mooseheads Scouting Department.

"We feel this is an obvious step forward for our organization," Patenaude said. "Sylvain Brunelle has been an outstanding employee of the Halifax Mooseheads and has been a major reason for our success in drafting and recruiting outstanding players. This appointment will be highly beneficial to our hockey club."

At the same time, Patenaude named Jean-Marc Blouin to the position of Chief Scout, Quebec; Scouting Coordinator Allie MacDonald to Chief Scout, Atlantic Canada and USA Coordinator Chris Hamel to Chief Scout USA and Europe. Each will have full responsibility for their areas.

Yvon Gasse, Lachenaie, QC, will continue as Administrative Director of the Scouting Department. "Yvon has been the one most responsible for locating a number of outstanding goaltenders for our hockey club. His experience as administrator of the scouting department is a great asset to our hockey club," Patenaude said.

Blouin, Beloeil, QC, will be overseeing Quebec Scouts Eric Legault, Laval, QC, Richard Martinelli, Laval, QC and Francois Veillette, Laval, QC.

MacDonald, Antigonish, NS, will have the assistance of Bill MacLean, Bedford, NS, looking after Metro Halifax, Jack Lee, Mount Pearl, NL, handling Newfoundland and Louis Guay, Moncton, NB, who's territory will be New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

Hamel, Haverhill, MA, will be responsible for scouting the USA and Europe.

"Over the past few years we have been increasing the responsibilities of these individuals. With our experience and knowledge, we felt having three chief scouts responsible for individual territories is the best way to recruit in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League." Patenaude said. "We are confident that these changes will bring this organization to another level in our scouting."
