Week in Review: For the first time in five weeks the Rayz had only two games over the week, as they hit the road for back to back away games against Southeast Division opponents. Corpus Christi opened the week with a 4-2 loss at Austin on Friday Night. The loss to the Ice Bats was Corpus Christi's first regulation defeat at the hands of Austin this season. In addition to the game, the Rayz also lost their team captain and the league's highest scoring defenseman Bernie John in the game. John took a cross-check from Dallas Anderson early in the contest and did not return for the remainder of the weekend. Playing without John on Saturday Night, the Rayz closed the week with a 3-2 victory in Rio Grande Valley and improved their season record to 3-0-2 against the Killer Bees. The Rayz remained in first place in the Southeast Division and with 25 points, are tied with San Angelo and Lubbock for first place in the Southern Conference.

All Rayz home games are played at the American Bank Center. All games will be broadcast live on the flagship station of the Corpus Christi Rayz - 103.7 FM KOUL and online at the Rayz website - www.ccrayz.com. All home games, along with select road games, are available for viewing on the internet at www.chltv.com.

Practice Schedule: The Rayz practice this week from 10:00-11:30am Tuesday-Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, the team will have pre-game skating sessions from 10:00-10:30am. All practices this week will be held at the American Bank Center.

Home Sweet Home

In their first season in a brand new arena, the Rayz have settled in nicely to the American Bank Center. The Rayz have 13 points out of a possible 16 in their first eight home games of the season. They will play home games on consecutive nights this weekend for the first time this season. The Rayz have outscored the opposition 35-23 at home this year.

The Early Bird Catches the Worm

The Rayz have been outstanding this season when getting on the board early. Corpus Christi has scored the first goal of the game 12 times this season. In those 12 games, the Rayz have a record of 8-2-2 with a total of 18 points out of a possible 24. The Rayz have 24 first period goals this year, second only to the Memphis RiverKings who have 27.

Red Hot Rookie

Rayz first year forward, Ken McKay scored three of the Rayz five goals over the weekend. McKay had both Rayz goals Friday night in Austin and a second period tally on Saturday night in Rio Grande Valley. The Westbank, BC native who was forced to miss five games early in the season due to injury has nine goals, six assists and 15 points in only 16 games. He is currently tied for third in the CHL in rookie goal scoring, and sixth in the league in points.

Turn on the Red Light

With 76 goals this season, the Rayz have scored more than any other team in the CHL. The Rayz are average just under four goals a game and have scored four or more goals in 11 of their 21 games this season. The Rayz currently have nine players with double digit point total and a league leading four players with 20 or more points.

This Week in the Community: Rayz players will be visiting students at Montclair Elementary School on Wednesday at 4:00pm as part of the Latchkey After School Program. Rayz players will also visit students at Luther Jones Elementary School at 1:30pm on Wednesday. On Sunday at 1:30pm, Rayz players will attend the Pediatric Services Christmas Party.

The Rayz are pleased to announce their partnership with Corpus Christi GM Goodwrench Dealers and Toys for Tots this holiday season. Anyone who brings an unwrapped toy for donation to any participating GM Goodwrench dealership will receive a complimentary ticket to the Rayz game on Saturday, December 18th when the Rayz host the Laredo Bucks at 8:00pm at the American Bank Center. All toys go to benefit less fortunate as part of the Toys for Tots Program. Complimentary tickets are available through December 18th while supplies last.

The Rayz have teamed forces with Driscoll Children's Hospital to raise money on their New Year's Eve game against the Austin Ice Bats. The Rayz will donate a portion of the proceeds from all tickets purchased at Driscoll Children's Hospital or the Rayz office. The tickets start at just $10. The Rayz will begin a new tradition in Corpus Christi with the inaugural Rayz New Year's Eve Game and Block Party. After the game, all fans in attendance will have access to a party on Shoreline Blvd. featuring a fireworks show, live music food and drinks, and interactive events leading up to midnight. Entrance to the party is only permitted to those in attendance at the Rayz game.

On Monday, December 20th, Rayz players will visit young patients at Driscoll Children's Hospital from 2:00-3:30pm. The Rayz will be distributing gifts and signing autographs for the children at the hospital.

Rayz Next Home Game: The Rayz will return to Corpus Christi and the American Bank Center on Friday, December 17th when the Oklahoma City Blazers make their first visit ever to Corpus Christi. It will be the first Men's Night of the season, and all men 18 years and older will receive discounted tickets starting at $8. There will be a Harley Davidson Giveaway contest, the Bud Girls will be at the arena along with a special appearance by the Texas Bikini Team. Fans will have a chance to meet the Bikini Team models and get autographs throughout the evening. Plus one lucky fan will receive a trip for two to Las Vegas. Tickets are available at the American Bank Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations.
