Greenville, SC - Brad Thompson ran his scoreless streak to 30 1/3 innings with a 7-inning complete game shutout as Tennessee (13-12) split a doubleheader with Greenville (6-19) Monday night. In a night of lopsided games, the G-Braves won game one 9-1, while the Smokies took game two 10-0.

Thompson retired the first 10 batters he faced and needed just 70 pitches for his first professional complete game. The 22-year-old Las Vegas native, in just his second pro season, allowed an infield single to Tony Pena, Jr. in the 4th inning and a line drive single to Andy Marte with two-out in the seventh. Thompson hasn't been scored on since August 21, 2003 when he was with the Peoria Chiefs of the Midwest League, and including last season his streak stands at 38 1/3 straight scoreless innings.

Tennessee's game two offense was powered by home runs from Chris Eickhorst, Corey Erickson, and Jon Hamilton. Macay McBride (0-4) allowed six runs over 4 2/3 innings to suffer the loss.

Greenville ran away with game one as Zach Miner (1-3) held the Smokies to one run on two hits for his first win of the year. Gabe Johnson's solo home run in the third pulled the Smokies to 2-1, but the Braves bullpen was perfect and Greenville scored seven unanswered for the win.

Chris Narveson (0-3) remained winless, allowing four runs on seven hits. Josh Kinney was touched for consecutive home runs by Andy Marte and Bill McCarthy as part of a five-run sixth.

The series finale is Tuesday night at 7:15. Josh Axelson (0-3, 9.00) will look for his first win against Matt Merricks (0-1, 9.00).

The Smokies return home Wednesday night to face Walters State Community College in the Smoky Mountain Showdown. Tickets are available at the Smokies box office by calling 286-2300.
