New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
New Orleans starter Jon Niese pitched six innings allowed a pair of runs and earned his third win as the Zephyrs edged Memphis 3-2 on Saturday night in front of 15,857 fans in Memphis. Jesus Feliciano singled home Abraham Nunez in the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie. Niese improved to 3-0 in three starts scattering five hits and struck out five. Tim McNab delivered two scoreless innings of relief and Nate Field delivered his 12 save of the season pitching the ninth. Anderson Hernandez tripled in the first inning and scored on a Chris Aguila sacrifice fly. The Z's added a second run on a Raul Casanova RBI single in the sixth. The Z's lead the series two games to none. The Z's winners of six of 8 have moved to six games back of first place Oklahoma with 23 games to go.
The Zephyrs and Memphis will meet in the third game of the four game series on Sunday afternoon at 1:35PM. The Z's will start RH Jose Santiago (3-2, 5.68) against RH Mitchell Boggs (7-2, 3.61). RADIO: AM 690 WIST.
