New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The Zephyrs offense erupted in the eighth inning scoring a season best five runs in the inning as the Zephyrs defeated the Round Rock Express 9-0 at the Dell Diamond. New Orleans starter Brian Stokes pitched seven shutout innings, the 28 year old allowed three hits and struck out five. The Z's scored an unearned run in the first inning and added a second run in the fourth on Fernando Tatis league leading fourth home run. The Z's led 2-0 until the eighth inning when the Express reliever Carlos Hines allowed five runs off of two hits. Hines walked three hitters and the Express committed an error. Anderson Hernandez drilled a base clearing triple scoring three runs. The Z's added a pair of runs in the ninth inning on a Jesus Feliciano 2 RBI double. The Z's scored nine runs off of eight hits in the game. The Express committed a season high three errors and walked 8 Zephyr batters. The Z's and Express have split the first two games of the series.
