Game Keys - Brad Stone pitched seven strong innings as the Zephyrs snapped a four game losing streak and defeated the Portland Beavers 5-0 on Monday. The Z's used three pitchers to combine for a three hit shutout. Stone worked 7 innings and Brett Sinkbeil and Kasey Olenberger each worked a shutout inning. Donnie Murphy ripped a RBI single in the first inning to put the Z's on the board. Mike Lamb drilled a pinch hit home run in the eighth inning to cap the Zephyr win.
Game Notes- The five shutouts by the Zephyrs lead the PCL. New Orleans added Logan Morrison from Jupiter, he had been on the disabled list and had one hit in four at bats Monday. Portland had defeated the Zephyrs 8 consecutive games, dating to 2008 before Monday.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Portland meet in the second game of the set on Tuesday at 9. Z's will start Jorge Sosa (3-1, 3.49) vs. Radhames Liz (4-1, 3.19). Sosa played at PGE Park ten years ago as an outfielder for Rookie Ball Portland Rockies.
