New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The Zephyrs losing streak climbed to nine games after they fell 5-1 to the Oklahoma City RedHawks Wednesday night.
Kris Benson (1-1) shut down the Zephyrs over his six innings of work, allowing only one run on four hits while striking out five. Mike Hinckley and Beau Vaughan combined to throw three scoreless innings of relief to secure the win for the RedHawks.
The New Orleans offense managed only six hits on the night, and went hitless - 0-for-6 - with runners in scoring position. The team's lone run came on a home run by Alejandro De Aza in the fifth inning.
The nine game skid is the team's longest losing streak since June 15-23, 2006. The club record is 11 straight, also set in 2006, from April 22-May 3.
The series will conclude Thursday with Clay Hensley (RHP) taking on Guillermo Moscaso (RHP) with the first pitch scheduled for 7 pm.
