MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis and Nashville split a doubleheader Wednesday night at AutoZone Park with the Sounds claiming game one with a 1-0, eight-inning victory and the ‘Birds winning 5-1 in the night cap.

Game one featured a pitcher's duel between Memphis' Blake Hawksworth and Nashville's Tim Dillard. Hawkworth pitched six perfect innings before Jason Bourgeois led off the seventh with a single to left field. After a first inning single from Tyler Greene, Dillard did not allow a runner to reach base retiring 21 straight in a complete game win. The Sounds finally scratched out a run in the top of the eighth off Redbirds reliever Jess Todd, who took the loss. Bourgeois' single drove in Hernan Iribarren for the game-winning run.

Memphis rebounded to claim the second game with Allen Craig leading the way with four RBI. Craig's RBI-single in the first gave the Redbirds the lead and his three-run homer in the third pushed the advantage to 4-0. Memphis starter Evan MacLane picked up the win allowing one run on six hits over six innings. Nashville starter Chris Cody was saddled with the loss giving up four runs on seven hits in four innings of work.

Memphis and Nashville wrap up their four-game series tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Mitchell Boggs takes the ball for the ‘Birds against Sounds lefty Lindsay Gulin.
