CORPUS CHRISTI - In the wake of another successful special event at Whataburger Field, Ryan-Sanders Entertainment is rolling out another big show.

Last night it was Houston Dynamo MLS soccer.

Now, it's Ziegfest.

If you're a native Texan and you love all things Texas... or, if you're not a Texan by birth but got here as fast as you could...

Don't make any plans for the first weekend in October.

Ziegfest 2010 - A Truly Texan Event runs from 3-11:45 p.m. at Whataburger Field on Saturday, October 2. Presented by Ryan-Sanders Entertainment, the Corpus Christi Hooks, L&F Distributors and ZiegenBock, Ziegfest will feature several different Texas country and rock artists and bands.

The roster of performers for the two-stage show will be announced on June 16, and several other Texas-themed activities are in the works. They include a mechanical bull, jalapeno eating contest, armadillo races, video tributes from notable Texans and a longhorn steer for picture-taking.

Tickets go on sale June 18 with proceeds benefiting the Texas Surf Museum.

"Ziegfest is a great event to bring to Whataburger Field, the Coastal Bend and all of South Texas," Ryan-Sanders executive vice president JJ Gottsch said. "ZiegenBock and L&F Distributors have been tremendous partners for us and we look forward to teaming up for a great day of music, food and fun."

All tickets are General Admission and $25 in advance, $30 the day-of. Discounts will be extended to Hooks season-ticket holders and sponsors.

Ziegfest is the fourth major non-baseball event at Whataburger Field. Last August, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Bob Dylan held a concert. In October, Brandon Rios and Jerry Belmontes headlined a seven-fight Top Rank boxing card at the ballpark.
