Zephyrs Win Fifth Consecutive

Papillion, NE - The Zephyrs scored four runs late to come from behind and defeat Omaha 7-5 in front of 7,766 fans at Werner Park. The win is the fifth in a row for the Z's.

Mike Cervenak led the way with three hits and two RBI, including the go ahead two RBI double in the seventh inning. Ozzie Martinez added a three RBI double in the second inning.

Omaha scored runs in each of the first four innings of the game off of starter Elih Villanueva. The Zephyrs pulled within a run in the sixth inning with a Matt Dominguez solo home run. New Orleans scored three in the seventh off of reliever Kevin Pucetas. Dan Jennings pitched 1.1 innings and earned his first career Triple A win and Pucetas suffered the loss.

Jose Ceda pitched the ninth and earned his league leading 21st save of the season.

Game Notes - Mike Cervenak extended his hit streak to 11 games, Tim Torres and Brad Davis had their hit streaks snapped at 6 and 7. The Zephyrs placed pitcher Pete Andrelczyk on the disabled list. New Orleans added catcher Miguel Fermin and assigned Gregg Glime to Class A Jupiter.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs continue their 12 game road-trip with game two of the series on Friday in Omaha. New Orleans will start RH Tom Koehler (5-6, 5.54) against Omaha LH Mike Montgomery (3-4, 5.18). RADIO: WMTI 106.1 FM.
