The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Tom Zanoski for the 2009-10 season.
Zanoski returns to the Gladiators after leading Gwinnett in scoring during the 2009 Kelly Cup Playoffs posting 8 points off of 3 goals and 5 assists. Zanoski had the overtime game winning goal in the Gladiators only playoff season win over Florida in Game 3 of the Division Semi-Finals.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward was acquired by the Gladiators in a trade with the Dayton Bombers on January 30th for financial considerations. Zanoski appeared in 31 games with the Gladiators and finished with 8 goals and 13 assists for 21 points. He combined for a goal and an assist in 6 games with Stockton and Dayton before joining Gwinnett.
Zanoski skated in 42 games with the Stockton Thunder during the 2007-08 season. He notched 12 goals and 8 assists for 20 points while with Stockton during his rookie campaign.
Prior to turning pro, he played two collegiate seasons at Dalhousie University in Canada. He combined for 50 points in his collegiate career in 52 games. He played four seasons from 2001-02 through 2004-05 in the Ontario Hockey League with the Owen Sound Attack and the Mississauga Ice Dogs. He had a junior hockey career best in 2004-05 posting 50 points in 65 games with Mississauga.
Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that is the third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League. The ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
