Charleston RiverDogs News Release
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The New York Yankees have announced the following minor league transactions affecting the RiverDogs roster:
- Â RHP Miguel Yajure - Reinstated from Charleston 7-Day Disabled List
- Â RHP Chad Martin - Released from Contract
Yajure, 20, adds the youth movement sweeping the Charleston roster. He is the 4th pitcher 20-years-old or younger currently with Class A Charleston and one of 11 total on the roster.
The Venezuela native will start for the RiverDogs in Friday night's series opener in Greenville, his first official outing since 2016 in the Gulf Coast League. Since signing as a 16-year-old with the Yankees in 2015, he owns a career 1.94 ERA in the minors over 88 1/3 innings, all at the rookie ball levels with a 57:25 strikeout to walk ratio. He did not pitch during the 2017 season.
Martin, 24, was 2-1 with a 0.84 ERA in 11 games out of the bullpen with Charleston this year. In his four-year MiLB career, he yielded just 115 hits in 160-plus innings with a 2.08 ERA since being drafted in the 30th round out of the University of Delaware in 2015.
Back at .500 since the first time in early May, the RiverDogs (29-29) continue their road trip next in Greenville, taking on the Drive. The Holy City comes in having won 6 of their last 7 contests and will face Drive righty Hildemaro Requena (1-1, 9.00) with Yajure making his RiverDogs debut. Friday night's 7:05 p.m. start will be broadcast on WTMA 1250 AM and online streaming at riverdogs.com and the RiverDogs TuneIn radio station.
RiverDogs single-game tickets are now available for the 2018 campaign, the club's 25th season as the RiverDogs and their "175th season in dog years." Ticket information can be secured by contacting the box office at (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or online at www.riverdogs.com/tickets.
