Billings Mustangs News Release
GREAT FALLS, Montana - The Billings Mustangs (15-14, 38-29) lost their third consecutive game on Tuesday, falling 5-1 to the Great Falls Voyagers (20-9, 41-26) in front of 904 at Centene Stadium.
Great Falls picked up a bulk of their runs in the second inning off Scott Moss (3-1). The Voyagers scored four runs on five hits in what would be the final inning for the Billings starter. Frank Califano singled to score a run and Mitch Roman helped two cross the plate on his RBI single.
The only Voyager to come up with multiple hits was Louis Silverio who was playing in his first game in 2016 in the Pioneer League. Silverio, who was a member of the 2015 Voyagers, went 2-for-3 with a double and a run.
Great Falls extended their lead to 5-0 in the sixth when Joel Booker doubled to score Sam Dexter who had walked to lead off the inning.
The Mustangs scored their lone run of the game in the seventh when T.J. Friedl led off with a triple and scored on a Jose Siri grounder to short. Friedl would account for 3 of the 5 Mustangs hits on Tuesday.
Yosmer Solorzano (8-3) threw the first complete game of the year in the Pioneer League, giving up just one run on five hits in his nine innings of work on the mound. He would set a new season-high for himself in innings pitched and strikeouts with ten. He faced just three batters over the minimum.
The Mustangs look to avoid the sweep on Wednesday at Centene Stadium in Great Falls. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
