York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution extended their winning streak to seven consecutive games with a 4-1 victory over the Camden Riversharks on Wednesday night at Sovereign Bank Stadium. The seven-game streak matches the league's longest this season, and the Revs will aim to tie the franchise record with an eighth straight win on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
York grabbed a quick first inning lead, loading the bases on a hit-by-pitch of Scott Grimes, and two Camden errors on fielder's choice ground balls. The Revs managed only one run though against starter Ben Davis, which scored on Jose Herrera's double play grounder.
The Revs added another run in the third, when Grimes led off with a single to center, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Raul Padron, and scored as Steve Haake followed with a single to right.
Revs starter Damian Moss (1-0) earned his first win by firing five scoreless innings. The lefty issued a walk and a single to begin the second, but rolled a double play to help himself escape that inning. He then allowed back-to-back singles to open the fourth, but retired the next three-in-a-row. He also gave up a leadoff single in the fifth, but set down the final three in order.
Chuck Jeroloman gave the Revs some breathing room on a tape-measure two-run homer to deep left in the sixth. It was his eighth of the season, matching Keoni DeRenne's 2008 club record for homers in a single season by a shortstop.
The bullpen took care of it from there. Vince Perkins and A.J. Murray each worked scoreless innings. Ryan Basner allowed a run on Matt Ceriani's RBI single in the eighth, but Jim Heuser recorded the final two outs with the tying run at the plate. Sean Stidfole fired a 1-2-3 ninth for his eighth save in as many opportunities.
Notes: The Revs have begun a homestand 6-0 for the first time in club history. Ramon Castro (0-for-3) saw his 12-game hitting streak come to an end. Grimes' stolen base was his 19th of the season, moving to within two of matching the Revs' single-season record of 21. Camden made three more errors on Wednesday night; the Riversharks have made three errors in all three games of this series. The Revs, who played errorless ball on Wednesday night for the 44th game this season (within two games of matching club record for a single year), have made just three errors over their last 11 games, while opponents have committed 18 errors against them. John Pachot (2-for-4) is now 8-for-13 in the series. Jeroloman (2-for-3) extended his hitting streak to six games (10-for-20). Celson Polanco (1-1, 4.91) makes the start on Thursday night, opposite former Revs hurler Derell McCall (7-3, 4.46), who was traded to Camden for future considerations prior to the game. It is Faith in Our City Night, presented by Logos Academy. Anthony Evans performs a pregame concert at 6 p.m., and nationally syndicated radio host Dr. Tony Evans will follow at 6:30. Gates open at 5:30. first pitch is set for 7:30. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
