York Revolution News Release

A game that was a pitchers' duel early quickly turned into an offensive outburst for the York Revolution, as the home team piled up five-run innings in the fifth and seventh en route to an 11-2 victory over the Long Island Ducks on Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park. The win sets up a rubber match in the three-game series on Wednesday evening.

With the game scoreless, things began to turn with a Ryan Dent single through the left side in the fifth, and Travis Witherspoon followed with the same result. That put two men on for Alonzo Harris coming to the plate, and the Revs' leadoff man put his team on the board, launching a three-run home run to deep left field to propel York ahead, 3-0. It was Harris' fifth home run in the last eight games. Alexi Casilla reached on an error by third baseman Giovanny Alfonzo, setting up Isaias Tejeda for a two run home run down the line in right to increase the lead to 5-0.

The Ducks responded with a two-run blast of their own in the top of the sixth with Dan Lyons following an Alfonzo single with a shot over the Arch Nemesis in left to make it 5-2. Revs starter Frank Gailey, who set down 13 of the first 14 batters, came back to retire the next two, but issued a pair of two-out walks in the sixth before giving way to the bullpen. Chase Huchingson came on and got Angelo Songco to pop out to escape.

The offensive outburst continued for York in the seventh. Harris led off with a double down the left field line and Tejeda singled with one out to make it first and third. The Ducks summoned lefty Patrick Crider to face Michael Burgess, but Burgess bounced a single through the right side to score a run, making it 6-2. Luis Cruz followed with an infield single to plate another run, and the rout was on. A throwing error would bring home another run, Carlos Triunfel contributed an RBI single up the middle, and Dent capped off the effort with an RBI double down the left field line as the Revs' lead swelled to 10-2.

In the eighth, York tacked on one final run against Ducks catcher Alex Burg who was tasked with finishing it off on the mound. After two hits and a walk loaded the bases, Dayron Varona bounced into a fielder's choice to score Tejeda, pushing it to 11-2.

The Revs' bullpen was sharp as Joe Van Meter, Ricardo Gomez, and Michael Click each worked scoreless frames, with Click celebrating his 29th birthday by striking out Alfonzo to finish off the victory.

The Revs will go for a series win on Wednesday night as they also go for their ninth straight finale win, sending righty Steve Janas (2-5, 4.73) to the mound to face off with Ducks righty Alfredo Simon (1-2, 5.23) in a 6:30 p.m. tilt.
