Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Staten Island, NY- It took him a while but Chris Raber finally figured out the IronBirds pitching staff.

Raber went 4-for-5 and drove in six runs to lead the Yankees past Aberdeen 14-4 on Wednesday despite going 2-for-20 in seven previous games against the IronBirds this season.

Raber drove in two runs in each of Staten Island's big innings. The Yankees scored four runs in the first inning and six times in the fourth inning to sweep the IronBirds in the two game series.

Staten Island jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four unearned runs off Aberdeen starter Josh Tamba in the first inning. Raber singled in two runs for the Yankees, which took advantage of two Aberdeen errors and a wild pitch in the inning.

The Yankees scored six more times in the fourth inning against Aberdeen reliever Luis Noel in his IronBirds debut. Austin Krum hit a solo homer to right-center to leadoff the inning. Taylor Holiday then drove in two runs with a ground-rule double to left field. Damon Hollingsworth drove in Holiday with a single before Raber doubled in two runs to cap the scoring in the inning.

Joe Mahoney led the Aberdeen offense with his eighth home run of the season-a towering two run homer in the fourth inning. The IronBirds offense had 13 hits but was unable to put more than four runs across against starter Zach McAllister and three relievers.
