Yakama cruises past Xplosion, 107-72

PITTSBURGH, January 23, 2007 - Kevin Pittsnogle led Pittsburgh (2-20) with 17 points, but Yakama (18-7) held the Xplosion to a franchise-low in points en route to a 107-72 victory in Continental Basketball Association action at Mellon Arena.

The Xplosion struggled from the floor shooting just 34% (26-76), while the Sun Kings sizzled connecting at a 54 percent clip (39-72). Yakama also hammered the boards outrebounding the Black and Gold, 55-38.

The Sun Kings took control of the game from the outset and swept all four quarters to capture seven quarter points. Yakama captured the opening frame, 28-17, and also won the second quarter, 25-23, to lead at intermission, 53-40. The Sun Kings extended their lead in the third quarter winning the period 2-19 and then finished off the game by taking the fourth quarter, 28-13.

Pittsnogle added eight rebound to go along with his 17 points, extending his team-leading scoring streak to 12 consecutive games. Newcomer Dajuan Tate add 16 points and Isaac Jefferson narrowly missed a triple-double with 10 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Rob Griffin paced six Sun Kings in double-figures with a game-high 24 points. Rocky Walls added 15 points and 15 rebounds. Greg Stevenson netted 17. Galen Young finished with 10 points, 11 assists and nine boards.

The Xplosion and Sun Kings will face-off again on Wednesday night at 7:05 at Mellon Arena.
