CBA's National Conference All-Stars announced

January 23, 2007 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release

ALBANY, NY (January 23, 2007) - The Continental Basketball Association is pleased to announce the ten basketball players who will represent the National Conference at the 2007 All-Star Classic, which will be held February 6 in Butte, Montana. The National Conference squad features a cross-section of the league's top talent from the CBA's westernmost franchises, including the CBA's leaders in rebounds, in assists, and in triple-doubles. The squad will be coached by Yakama Sun Kings head coach Paul Woolpert, who will be coaching his third All-Star team.

Guard-Forward Galen Young (6'6", 220, UNC-Charlotte) leads five Sun Kings who were named on the team. Young has three of the league's four triple-doubles this season, and earned Player of the Week honors in December 2006 for his efforts. Young currently leads the CBA in assists (6.8 apg), and has a single-game league-high of 14 assists, which he achieved earlier this year. His 8.9 rpg is among the league's best this season. Young, who received the most All-Star votes among his National Conference teammates, previously participated in the 2004 All-Star Classic, as well as in the "Rookie Game" that preceded the 2000 All-Star Classic; both events were held at the Yakima SunDome, home of his Sun Kings.

Among the other Sun Kings on the 2007 National Conference squad are center Chris Alexander (7'1", 260, Iowa State) who, like Young, was named "Player of the Week" in December 2006; Alexander's 59.5% field goal percentage is the best among this year's All-Star team, and he has a single-game high of 7 blocked shots this season. Other Sun Kings on the All-Star squad include forward Rocky Walls (6'8", 235, Oral Roberts), who leads the CBA in offensive rebounds (4.7 orpg); guard Robert Griffin (6'6", 213, Iowa), who is among the leaders in both free-throw percentage (93.3%) and 3-point percentage (46.8%); and guard Ralph Holmes (6'4", 190, Cal State-Fullerton), who led all Sun Kings with 18.6 points per game.

The hometown Butte Daredevils will be represented by two players; guard Odell Bradley (6'4", 245, Indiana University / Purdue University at Indianapolis), who leads the Daredevils in scoring with 17.9 ppg; and center Nick VanderLaan (6'10", 225, Concordia-Irvine), who leads the entire CBA with 10.4 rebounds per game, and was the January 22 CBA Player of the Week with a 25-rebound game.

The Great Falls Explorers, Butte's in-state rivals, will have two guards on the All-Star team; Jamar Howard (6'4", 205, Wichita State), whose 2.1 steals per game augments his 14.7 ppg and 6.2 rpg; and Malik Moore (6'3", 178, American International), who leads the Explorers in both points (17.7 ppg) and assists (6.4 apg). These will be the first men to represent Great Falls in the All-Star Classic since 1983, when Robert Smith and John Douglas were part of Great Falls' earlier CBA team, the Montana Golden Nuggets.

The Utah Eagles' lone representative will be forward John Millsap (6'6", 220, Texas-San Antonio). Millsap's 19.0 ppg leads all Eagles in scoring, and he is also among the league leaders in rebounds (8.7 rpg) and offensive rebounds (3.9 orpg).

The players that will participate in the Slam Dunk and Long Distance Shootout competitions will be announced at a later date.
